Ian Precautions
Here are a few reminders as Ian approaches North Carolina.
- Make sure to secure any loose items on your property. All trash bins need to be pushed back underneath or near your home.
- All battery powered items need to be raised up off the floor as high as possible, preferably at least five feet off the ground. This includes battery powered vehicles, battery chargers, standby power equipment, etc. If these items cannot be elevated, please remove them from the island.
- Contractors should make sure that port-a-johns are removed from job sites. Trash dumpsters need to be cleaned and all construction material needs to be secured or removed from job sites.
- All calls to the Police Department should be routed through the 911 system and an officer will be dispatched accordingly.
