This summer, Holden Beach vacationers (and locals) can preorder bags of locally-grown produce to be ready for local pickup every Saturday.
The program, known as “Vacation Vittles,” is a ambitious, state-sponsored partnership with NC State University, local farmers, vacation rental agencies, and local businesses.
Vacation rental agencies will be promoting the program to renters ahead of their scheduled rental dates.
Renters and locals will be able to preorder and purchase their produce for each summer week via the program’s website.
Vacation Vittles produce bag will be filled with a variety of fruits and vegetables picked at the peak of freshness by local farmers.
Each bag will contain enough fresh produce to feed a family of four at least three servings of fruit and vegetables for the week and be $45 a bag. Price includes credit card transaction and service fees.
Bags will be delivered and be ready for pickup at Beach Mart, a family owned, local business conveniently located on the Holden Beach Causeway.
The program will be run from the week starting June 8th until the week ending August 31st.
